Services & Activities

Come to Pepper Pot for daily doses of life enhancement!

ministry

The majority of members using Pepper Pot are day care and drop-in members. Carers cater for the special needs of our members. Attendance varies from day to day, but we have an average of 15 day care members and 25 drop-in members attending daily to benefit from our warm and friendly atmosphere.

Activities

Pepper Pot offers a wide range of activities to help our members socialise, remain active and promote their independence and therefore enables them to enjoy their old age.

Transport

A transport service for our day care members is available to enable them to attend the Centre. A carer and a driver work together to ensure the safety of the members at all times. Members are collected in the morning and then returned back home in the afternoon.

How we help you stay healthy and active

Our mission is to provide high quality, safe, person-centred, culturally specific care services, thereby empowering the Pepper Pot users to play a more effective role in their health and well being. We do this at the Centre by facilitating a range of stimulating, social, therapeutic, health promoting and fitness activities as well as by arranging various local outings and trips.

A big warm welcome

Pepper Pot is a meeting place for many older adults who would otherwise be isolated and lonely. The Centre receives referrals from Adult Social Services, NHS, GPs friends and neighbour. It also provides daytime respite to the care givers of those service users whose round-the-clock requirements mean they are unable to manage on their own. The Centre is therefore a wonderful benefit and support to both the service users and their families.

Our users are offered a range of Services tailored to their needs. These includes:

  • Freshly cooked, hot nutritious African and Caribbean meals and snacks from Monday to Friday.
  • Transport Services for the day care service users to enable them to attend the Centre
  • Qualified Care Staff to provide high-quality, safe and person-centred care.
  • Ongoing liaison with Care Managers to ensure proper monitoring and implementing of individual care packages.
  • Ongoing liaison with GP’s nurses and family members or carers to ensure health and well-being of service users and to report any deterioration in health.
  • Personal care services.
  • Befriending or Outreach Services for those that are housebound, isolated and/or depressed.
  • General Advice and Information – the services of an Outreach Officer is available to give advice or to forward the user’s query to the appropriate agency.
